Opposition (The Lux Series, #5 by Jennifer L. Armentrout)

Synopsis

Daemon gets her back once he goes to Mount Weather, but that's not all that happens. They hurt her, and force him to heal her. But their bond is unbreakable, right? She dies, he dies, and Daedalus wouldn't risk it would they? But that's not all the suffering Katy has to go through, there are the Stress Tests and the guilt of having killed Blake. But Daemon isn't the one to do all the healing when they force him to stab himself with a knife, having to watch Katy heal him. And they force Daemon to mutate others, and he's unsuccessful until they find a way out, through Archer, someone on the inside working with Luc. An Origin. Something Daedalus wanted Katy and Daemon make all along, why else would they let them share a bathroom? So they escape, find the others, get into a little war with the Daedalus and expose the Luxen to the world. All hell breaks loose and the other Luxen from other planets come. Who will Daemon stand with? His kind or Katy?

I give

Mainly because it took me so long to finish this book. It was quite boring at first. Daemon was gone, Katy was miserable and lost and totally confused by what had happened. But not just Daemon BUT ALSO Dee and Dawson. They were all sucked into this gathering of 100% pure Luxen with no humanly personality traits. Just wild animals, really.

So what happens? Well, when Archer and Katy go to fetch some medicine for Dawson's lovely pregnant girlfriend, they come across a warzone in a shopping center? I think. And then Katy sees Daemon and vanishes and gets hit by Dawson, knocking her unconsciously. And she wakes up in this room where the house is surrounded by weird Luxen and Daemon and Dawson pretend to be one of them. While Katy's heart slowly breaks at how Daemon treats her, she begins to believe he's let go until they finally get some time alone and he confesses that he's all there.

"Kat." He uttered my name like it was some kind of prayer, and then he pressed a kiss against the skin behind my ear. "I broke every rule of my kind to heal you and keep you with me. I ... burned down an entire city to keep you safe. I've killed for you. Did you think I'd forget what you mean to me? That anything in this world-in any world- would be stronger than my love for you?"

While they hide, and pretend otherwise in front of the Luxen leader, there's one sidekick that reveals to be an origin, reading their minds and knowing all along that Daemon is not a part of them and that neither is Dawson by reading their minds. When they get away and reunite with their friends, thanks to Luc, they manage to get an Arum to help them get in touch with the Arum leader. They step into their own graves by gong to their pit, and the greatest yet most disturbing things happen to them. While this is all happening, Dee is not even on their side. No, she's still with the Luxen, still broken from the death of her boyfriend, and so, very, evil. Let me go back a few scenarios and quote Dee's exact words to Katy.

"If you don't move, I will throw you down the stairs. It'll hurt. You might break your neck. It's three levels. Someone will heal you. Or maybe we'll just leave you like that, alive but unable-"

That was cruel! Sweet, sweet Dee had turned into the most vicious snake and they couldn't even kill her! Not that I wanted to, she is, after all, Katy's best friend, almost sister, and sister-in-law considering they get married. Under a fake name, but nevertheless, it's marriage and it means the world to them, and to us readers, because they'd finallly settled down. Unfortunately for them, an Origin baby would come out of a hybrid and Luxen, but fortunately for us, the kid would be badass. I'll admit though, a separate series about the girl of Daemon and Katy would be a fun series.

Now, back to the Arum fun, when they get to the Arum beehive, they have a talk with Lotho, the Arum leader and the fun begins. He only agrees to help them if Daemon lets him feed off of her. We can all guess his answer but things turn more interesting when Daemon agrees but insists on being in the room when it happens. While it may sound like he might be raping her, it's actually fun watching Daemon hold back from hitting him. Lotho tries his best to get him jealous  by taking off his shirt, oh the fun, and leaning closely towards Katy. When Lotho is about to get a taste of Katy, Daemon loses it and jumps right at him but Lotho reacts and pins him against the wall and laughs it off saying he just wants to mess with him. This may sound a teeny tiny bit creepy but I want a fanfiction written story about Katy's and Daemon's baby girl growing up to fall in love with Lotho, the mad yet sexy evil Arum. Now that sounds like an interesting story, some kind of twisted Romeo and Juliette among the Luxen and the Arum people.

"I know asking you to stay in the car is too much, but please stay close to me." Daemon slowed down as he crossed the parking lot, heading toward the fancy black car. "Luc might trust the douche, but I don't."
"It's not like I'm going to run up and hug him."
His expression turned bland. "I'd sure hope not. I might get jealous."
"You'd get jealous if she hugged a tree," Archer tossed out.
"Maybe." Daemon coasted to a stop in a parking space behind the car. "I'm needy like that."

I know this may sound like an odd comparison but he reminds me a lot of Lucifer in the paragraph, especially the needy and douche part.

This was my favourite possible part of this book. I marked it so many times just so I would never forget mentioning it. This is a typical perfect-boyfriend reaction towards anything.

"Are we going to have this argument again?" Because I like it when you two get into it. It's lke watching a mom and dad have a marital disagreement. I feel like I need to go hide in a bedroom or something to make it more authentic. Maybe slam a door shut or-"

"Shut up, Luc," Archer growled, and then turned his glare at me.

I fell in love with Archer when this book started. He's the most loyal yet most rational character in this book. He doesn't take everything too harshly and he's not the most violent. this quote proved to me that he either didn't want Daemon to whop his ass if he found Katy missing, or that he wanted to keep her safe from the outside world. He's also the one to volunteer going with her to buy Beth her pregnant vitamins.

Daemon kissed me deeply, cutting off my words, and he took that kiss to a whole new stratosphere. "You've got that big heart, Kitten." His lips cruised over mine as h spoke. "That's what  I love about you most. Well, that and I am a really big fan of your sweet body, but your heart? Yeah, that completes the package of you, wraps it up with a nice little bow. It makes you perfect to me."

"Sometimes..." I stared at him, blinking back wetness. "Sometimes you say the most amazing things."
"And I do love the sight of my hands on your ass, too."
A laugh burst out of me. "Oh my God, and then you say things like that."

Newly arrived batch of BOOKS!

We all get overly excited when we get to unpack and surprise ourselves with our past picks. Whenever the order shows up at our doorstep, the feeling is overwhelming.
I actually started shaking with excitement.

Book 1

The Edge of Never

by J.A. Redmerski

With an average of 4.28 stars on Goodreads,
This book follows a twenty year old Camryn Bennet ( :> Vampire diaries fans will understand )
who is set out to go her own way. She wants more from life, more than to live a repetitive life, more than to just grow old with the same habits and hobbies. So she changes her life completely. With just her phone and few necessities, she takes the bus alone to find herself, leaving her past life behind. On her journey she meets a dark, mysterious guy named Andrew Parrish that opens Cam's mind to things she's never done before. Even though she vowed to never fall in love again, everything she never thought possible happens. It is only a matter of time before Andrew's darkest, deepest secrets come to surface with their relationship.

I think this book will take me to places.

Book 2

Poison Study

by Maria V. Snyder

With an average rating of 4.17 stars on goodreads.

This is a story about a girl named Yelena, whose about to be executed for murder but is given a way out of it if she becomes a food taster and risk getting poisoned to protect the commander if Ixia. Though she is given the Butterfly Dust, to prevent her from ever leaving or running away. Without a daily antidote, Yelena would die. But she starts to develop powers she can't control and with Ixia constantly attacked, her life is always threatened and choices must be made.

I actually can not wait to read this! It sounds like a book I will remember for life, or even better a new favourite!

Book 3

And I Darken

Kiersten White

With an average rating of 3.98 stars on goodreads.

Lada and Radu Dragwlya were dragged away from their homeland of Wallachia and abandoned by their father to be raised in the Ottoman courts. They are both doomed to acts as pawns in a dangerous game. They are targets and being ruthless is their key to surviving. Lada plans her vengeance to get back to her homeland, while Radu only looks for a place to call home, a safe haven. They both meet the son of the Sultan, Mehmed. But he's the son of the empire Lada has sworn to fight against, even though he's also someone she may find worthy of her love.

I can't say I'm 100% excited about this. The synopsis is pretty weak. At least on my part, but never judge a book, not by its cover and definitely not by its synopsis.

Book 4

The Wrath and The Dawn

by Renee Ahdieh

This is a story inspired by the famous A thousand and one nights tale, in a land ruled by a murderous boy, a king, each dawn brings a heartache to a family. Khalid, the eighteen year old ruler is a monster. Each night a new bride is wrapped around the throat by a silky cord. When Shahrzad's close friend has fallen victim to Khalid, Shahrzad is determined to put a stop to it and end Khalid's reign by volunteering to be the next bride. Only things take a complete turn.

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1 by Marissa Meyer)

Synopsis

Cinder is a girl, but not just any girl, she's a cyborg, and perhaps something more, but in her step mother's eyes. She's a slave under her own roof, with two sisters. Pearl and Peony. This isn't your typical Cinderella story, the cyborg part aside. All Cinder's ever wanted was to escape for her freedom. When Prince Kai shows up at her workplace with Nainsi, his android, Cinder knows there's a reason he doesn't want her wiped clean. And while Cinder may be just a cyborg girl, everything puts her right in the middle of a political war between the Eartheners and the Lunars.

I give

It took me about two days to finish this book. Is that a good thing? Yes. It's an amazing thing. Even though Science Fiction is not my thing, I was able to give this book a shot and I absolutely loved it!
I cannot wait to see what the next three books hold. They hype on this book is so great. I've been seeing this beautiful cover everywhere!

The book is written from a third person's point of view. What does this mean?! We can get into anyone's head! Although the main focus is mainly Cinder, we still get to see what is happening with Prince Kai. The pace of the book is fast. There's a lot going on in such little time. My heart had a hard time adjusting to some of the events and I could feel like that all the time. It's what a good book does to me. Who needs time to drink in every thing?! Nah, overwhelm me with every little event, please! Going back to the perspective talk, the fact that the author chooses to place us with different characters in some chapters creates quite the suspense and Meyer did not throw in any boring, long chapters. I have to say, everything about how this book was written was absolutely perfect.

"Imagine there was a cure, but finding it would cost you everything.
What would you do?"

Now, let's get on the plot. I've mentioned above who this story is about. Cinder. A cyborg. She's 36% metal and the rest very human. But is that really all she is? Nevermind. Moving on. This cyborg girl, with two sisters. Pearl and fourteen year old Peony, who is undoubtedly sweet and surprisingly gets along with our Cinderella. They live in New Beijing, a place where the greatest threat is the plague, Letumosis. After her dear sister, Peony catches the plague at an old junk yard, Cinder is punished by Adri, her stepmother, by being sent as a volunteer to be a test subject for the very same plague, and everything changes for her as she finds more about herself inside the lab's walls than anywhere else. Dr. Erland does not tell her everything though.

"I'm sure i'll feel much more grateful when I find a guy who think complex wiring in a girl is a turn-on."

Cinder is a very... cute character. Yes. Cute. Her actions are innocent, despite her strong personality. With the disability to produce tears and blush, her stepmother finds her inhuman, even though she is fully capable of feeling every little thing that hurts her emotionally. I would have to say the romance going on in this book kind of lacks a lot. As much as I wanted her moments with Prince Kai to prolong, there wasn't much going on. Except this sweet cyborg kissed him and the reaction we expected had not occurred. I'll have to admit, some things were, however, very easily predicted, like the fact that she is princess Selene. I didn't expect the Lunar part, but then as soon as she found out, I was so sure.

"Kai cleared his throat. Stood Straighter. "I assume you're going to the ball?"
"I-I don't know. I mean, no. No, I'm sorry, I'm not going to the ball."
Kai drew back, confused. "Oh well...but...maybe you would change your mind? Because I am, you know."
"The prince."
"Not bragging," he said quickly. "Just a fact."

For a man in this story, Prince Kai lacks the masculine features I look for in the ideal man for a story with so much going on. Prince Kai came off as a wuss. Yes. A WUSS. Why, you ask? Because even though he was a little human with little control over Princess Witch-head's magic/glamour, he could've done more, or acted more superior, I mean, in the end, the whole world did look at him as a freaking Emperor, and he lacked judgement and probably character development overall.  Perhaps there will be more to expect from the mighty Emperor in the next few books. I would've liked him to be more controling (cuz' he's the damn prince) and perhaps more... arrogant? Yes, that would've been nice.

Now, the villain of this book would be a Lunar, Queen Levana. Basically what a Lunar should be is: Creatures with the ability to glamour/manipulate people/humans into seeing and believing anything they want them to believe. And, yes they live on the moon, hence where "Lunar" came from. She's a total heartless bitch that cares about nothing but herself. She killed her sister, her daughter and attempted to kill her grand daughter, Princess Selene, if i'm not mistaken. But there were rumours about her surviving the fire and escaping on earth. When Queen Levana gets to earth in her fancy spaceship, she comes with one purpose. To become the Empress of New Beijing. (Marry Prince Kai) and if that happens, the war between the Lunars and the Eartheners would be prevented.

This heartbreaking story ended with sweet, sweet Cinder being imprisoned by Prince Kai. What a twisty turn everything took. And Cinder is left with only one option. To escape and meet Dr. Erland in Africa.

Here's the most heartbreaking part of this story.

(Page 282)

"She knelt over the pile of worthless parts that Adri had left. for her to find. A beat-up tread punctures with pebbles and debris. An ancient fan with a crooked blade. Two aluminium arms-one that still had Peony's velvet ribbon tied around the wrist. Clenching her jaw, she started sorting through the pieces carefully. One by one. Her fingers trembled over every mangled screw. Every bit of melted plastic. She shook her head, silently pleading. Pleading. Finally she found what she was searching for. With a dry, grateful sob, she crumpled over her knees, squeezing Iko's worthless personality chip against her chest."

OH MY GOD WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO IKO?

"Prince Kai! Check my fan, I think i'm overheating."

I love Iko so much, please be in the next book!

A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1 by George R.R. Martin)

Synopsis

The Game of Thrones is the first book in the Song of a Ice and Fire series, a fantasy novel by George. R. R. Martin. The plot-line revolves around three stories of the nobel houses: The Westeros, the Wall and most people's favourite, the Targaryens. Eddard (Ned) Stark treats being named the hand of the King like a curse after the one before had died, or was rather murdered. This changes everything for the Stark family as they split.

It is a matter of time before the Iron Throne is claimed by the wrong people.

Review

I give

★☆

Game of Thrones is a novel that includes eight perspectives, (Tyrion Lannister, Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, Eddard (Ned) Stark, Bran Stark, Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen , Catelyn Stark). I had a difficult time building some kind of emotion towards any of the characters listed above. The first book revolves around the idea of who is to keep the Throne and how the fight between the Starks and the Lannisters got bloody, but mainly who killed John Arryn, the hand of the king, because the fight against the Starks starts when Ned (Eddard) Stark questions if Arryn died of a natural cause. This is the type of book where you would expect gory details when it comes to violence, detailed sexual content and rough language, make no mistake there will be. The narrative is rich in context, though, I have had trouble understanding what was happening sometimes because of the different use of vocabulary, and it is not simple English. It is highly expected considering how the writing has to match the setting of the story, that being the middle Ages. Perhaps someone with a more profound knowledge in literature would have no trouble understanding everything. There’s always that one word though, right?!
There is no shame in picking a favorite character, so I’ll admit, I love Tyrion. He is more or less one of the most bullied characters in the book, along with Jon Snow, for being different and this is how I was emotionally attached to the both of them.  They’re both examples of good protagonists. Their choices are wise, and I can’t help but love the amount of sarcasm Tyrion has thrown in every now and then. I’ve enjoyed his chapters far more than any other character. However what makes the book so great is the fact that if you do despise or love a character, the chapters aren’t entirely long, so you have enough time to see what is happening on the other side, but not enough to bore you if you don’t feel interested. Besides, he may be fun to read because of his sarcastic thoughts, but events have made others a lot more interesting. And there’s this constant thing going on where some chapters end with a cliffhanger, which absolutely kills me and love.
As a mystery book, there’s a lot to discover, even though the core idea revolves around someone’s death. There’s so much going on and this helped me continue reading when I felt discouraged at times. The diversity between the characters is great, everyone’s different. In fact neither of them can quite relate to each other, especially those related.
What I liked so much about this book more than most other ones is that there is no cliché to it. There are no heroes or evil guys. There’s only our opinion on their actions. In the end every character and general person in real life believes their actions are for some kind of greater good. It’s us who decide who are the good guys. Of course we learn that all Eddard wants is for the truth to be out. He’s a loyal man with good intentions, and that gets him “chopped”. So this is more about survival. We see from every character’s perception what it takes for them to survive against those who wish them harm. I’ve unfortunately seen the TV show before reading and I know for a fact that this is no typical story. Or a typical fantasy for that matter. There will be deaths, ones I won’t care one tiny bit about, and others I’ll bawl my eyes for, so of course I’ll continue.

Unravel Me (Shatter Me series #2 By Tahere Mafi)

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.

She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.

Review

I give  ★★★★

I wasn't sure where this book was going, with the underground people and all that. All Juliette ever did was feel sorry for herself
"I'm a monster."
Oh don't touch me.
"Adam are you ok? Did I kill you?
"I could've killed you, I could've killed you, Adam-"
ENOUGH!
Gosh, halfway through this book this woman won't stop feeling sorry for herself, so what if he dies? It's not her fault. None of this is!
And all of this stops as soon as Kenji finally says:

"You have to live with it, just like the rest of us."
"You and Kent need to sort out your drama ASAP."
And I think this guy saved Juliette from all the imaginary slaps I would have given her if she felt sorry for herself one more time.

Juliette also catches a glimpse of Warner's humanity at the beginning of the book. I had to read "Destroy Me", a novella on Warner's point of view to see what he'd been doing for the first 100 pages of "Unravel Me".

I loved so much about this book, especially that Juliette improved so much and developed into this new person, with courage. It was a slow improvement, and I suppose I didn't see her greatest potential here but her character was different. She got up and she faced her abilities. She ends her relationship with Adam as an act of protection, and I suppose without being in a relationship with him, she is more able to be independent. Especially when she faces Warner's father, that was so great.

All I know is that my hand is around Anderson's throat and I've pinned him to the wall, so overcome by a blind, burning, all-consuming rage that I think my brain has already caught on fire and dissolved into ash.
I squeeze a little harder
He's sputtering. He's gasping. He's trying to get at my arms, clawing limp hands at my body and he's turning red and blue and purple and I'm enjoying it. I'm enjoying it so, so much.
I think I'm smiling.

This is the real juliette we all want, and a glimpse of her is what we get to see in this book. I loved this scene, mostly because it all took me by surprise and I would not stop reading, I was a machine with no stop button and it was beautiful.

And then my favourite parts come along, where Juliette needs to visit Warner for information until those visits just sort of become a necessity. I loved those short moments. I knew it would be the beginning of something more between them.

"He hasn't moved an inch since I stepped into this room. He's resting on his side, his back to the wall, his left arm tucked under his face, his right arm against his torso, his entire body perfect bare, strong, smooth, and smelling faintly of soap. I don't know why I can't stop staring at him."

This is so sweet, she's finally discovered that she's physically attracted to him! Ah. Finally.

I suppose this book is more about the development of her relationship with Warner, and it could not have made me happier. It was such a great book, with tiny little events that complete the entire story.

Kenji is another favourite character. He's just so down to earth, honest and funny. He definitely makes things a lot easier for Juliette, and I would give him so much credit for his friendship and advice. He's made me laugh countless times and I don't know if this book would have been the same without him.

"I mean, I just have to say-the last line? 'I wish I could love you less'? That was genius.Really, really nice. I think Winston actually shed a tear-"

DIED.

This book is about choosing between Adam and Warner, I only hope that your choice is as good as mine. And the next one is better.

When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

Review

I give ★★★★

I would have given less. Why did I not?

Ana's story began from the very beginning, straight to the point, straightforward all the way. I didn't like a lot about this book, but I don't exactly rate unfairly. Obviously, it's all my opinion. This is my first '"erotica" book to ever read and finish, and I found some scenes, okay, most scenes disturbing; that doesn't mean it wasn't written properly. It captured my attention and I wanted to read more to see where her relationship with this mysterious guy was going. I liked the fact that it kept me going. I was curious to know more about him, because she's just so simple compared to him. It balances out their characters. They complete each other. After a while of reading constant sex scenes, it got less weird. It was still all strange but I didn't close the book and gave up.

The voice of Ana sounded extremely childish at times, and I liked that because she's young and inexperienced and small things matter so  much, like her fear, excitement, nervousness; it all created a realistic feeling of being inside a young girl's head. Especially that inner Goddess of hers with those pom-poms.

Christian felt like such a mature person compared to her, which I was so  thankful for. He is such a mystery it's overwhelming. I suppose most people are eager to read more on their "sexy time", instead what I wanted most was for him to let her touch him. Like his face or just hand or arm or anything really, the fact that he wouldn't let her, I would say I was a lot more frustrated than she was, and she kept insisting and I wanted to find out if he would let her and he's so closed and keeping everything to himself.. ugh! Share your mind with us, Christian. Throughout the book, all I wanted to do was find out what was in that little messed up head of his and to find out if he would ever hurt her or if she would ever leave him and my questions were not entirely answered. Not yet.
I loved the ending and I was so happy, I definitely want to read the next book.

I can't wait for the movie, the actors  seem the perfect fit.

Shatter Me (#1 By Tehereh Mafi)

I am a monster

I'm more than human

My touch is lethal
My touch is power

I am their weapon
I will fight back

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

Review

I give ★★★★

Even though it was more of a 3.5/5 stars, I think this book deserves 4/5 stars because I am not completely against it. I will continue the series and I will read the next few books.

I was drawn by the beginning. it was so suspenseful and strange at one point, almost like listening to water drops in a quiet empty echo-y room. This is what the first few chapters were to me, until beautiful Adam was introduced and then it just got awkward, which I liked, I wanted to see where this book was going and so I read.

I recommend no breaks.

As I have stopped for a few days from reading the book, the idea of getting back and reading was a big no-thank-you-maybe-later.

Juliette is such a different character, she thinks of herself as the monster, the villain of her story and the only to harm others. I think the fact that abilities are introduced in the book is beyond what I have read. Her personality seems complicated and lost and I hope to learn and find out more of her struggles in the next few days.

Adam is a whole different story. It feels like he's this super-in-love-kid which is nice, but annoying. I was hoping he'd stick to being an ass just like the beginning when he was first introduced. It made Juliette's story more interesting. Perhaps if he was paid by someone else to get her out of Warner's walls and then falling for her, maybe that would've been better. Someone should write a fan-fiction of this book..

I immediately got attached to Warner, despite his odd name, the controlling-bossy-young-jerk. Yep, definitely the right description of what Juliette needs, even though Adam kind of balances out the monster she thinks she is with his kindness and such. I hate that she is Warner's weakness, that he directly falls for her words and actions. He's no idiot, so why does he act like one? Hopelessly in love with her is not the answer I want.

Don't stop reading this book!

And
Don't stop with this book!

I believe Unravel Me will be better.

The One (Book #3 of The Selection Trilogy by Kiera Cass)

When she was chosen to compete in the Selection, America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown—or to Prince Maxon's heart. But as the end of the competition approaches, and the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious, America realizes just how much she stands to lose—and how hard she'll have to fight for the future she wants.

Review

★★★★✩ I give.

The One is probably my least favourite book from the trilogy. Even with all the events happening in the book, none seem to stick to my mind, perhaps because it was rushed and the reader. aka. me, didn't have time to mourn or process the events or the lost lives, especially at the end. The ending is too happy, or it seems like it is too happy because it comes along so fast. After three tragedies, they are all happy and ready to settle. What?

SPOILER

Dude, your mom and your dad just died and all you can think about is marrying her? It's already obvious she's The One.

And, and, what about the fact that her dad is a rebel or whatever, how does not impact or influence anything? Just knowing about it makes it as pointless as mentioning it in the first place.

I am frustrated with the rushed events and the ending. I wanted more, and perhaps one hundred more pages would've kept me from remembering what else happened towards the ending.

I wanted to feel happier and relieved as they were after the incidents, instead, I feel absolutely nothing. I finished the book on good terms, just not good enough for me to remember how good the past two books and the beginning of the first one were.

On the bright side, I love his name and will always remember it.

The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines, #4 by Richelle Mead)

The struggle isn't over for Sydney. As she navigates the aftermath of her life-changing decision, she still finds herself pulled in too many directions at once. Her sister Zoe has arrived, and while Sydney longs to grow closer to her, there's still so much she must keep secret. Working with Marcus has changed the way she views the Alchemists, and Sydney must tread a careful path as she harnesses her profound magical ability to undermine the way of life she was raised to defend. Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney struggles to keep her secret life under wraps as the threat of exposure — and re-education — looms larger than ever.

Review:

I am beyond frustrated.

At myself.

For not ordering the 5th book already.

I should have. I can't wait. I can't wait so long for the next book to arrive, I didn't even order it.

This book was amazing, the only reason why it took me so long to read it (approximately a week) was because I wanted to find every reason not to finish the book. I knew it would result in suffering if I had to wait for the next book. And here I am, suffering.

Zoe's the real bitch, I so, so, so expected her to turn her back on her sister. If Sydney forgives her, I won't approve, I'll be mad. Mad! Angry! Frustrated at the world!

God, Eddie is such a sweetheart, I'm so happy that Jill learnt something from Adrian. That kiss should've happened earlier.

Those Alchemists are ruining everything! GET A LIFE PEOPLE! Let Sydrian live.

I couldn't believe Adrian has a POV, I loved being in his head, and I wonder, how did Richelle Mead successfully wrote parts of the book from a guy's point of view. How would anyone understand what goes on in guys' heads. It was a first for me. A guy's POV, and I could not have imagined it to be better.

I absolutely love Adrian and Sydney, best couple of the vampire world.

"It's specific gravity and perfect cleavage go a long way too."
The only part of that I understood was "perfect cleavage," but I had a feeling we weren't thinking the same thing. "So, uh, what's the summary?"
-Dies-

I loved that. It was so Adrian, I can't even put into words how much a thought to small in a whole book can create a character so amazing.

"I was once part of a large regiment of guardians protecting a royal family when two Strigoi decided to attack," he said.
"Two Strigoi against a whole group of guardians, huh? Wow. That's pretty hard core."

Adrian does it again. That tone, in the voice I imagine he has, once again makes me die.

I worte: I never doubted. Would you believe I made a breakthrough with charms too?
Her response came fast. Of course I believe it. When do you get back?
Early evening. Can you come over?
I'll try. We need to celebrate.
Should I get champagne and cake ready?
Get your bed ready.
Wear the black bra.
I didn't plan on wearing one.
"God help me," I murmured, earning a surprised glance from Neil.

I LOVE THIS!

Call me crazy, but despite how I'm not even sure how to describe it, it's aaah...

I couldn't help but smile to the end of the chapter  after I read that.

ADDRIAN AGAIN!

"You actually have a subject?" I looked around to see if I'd missed somebody, but it was just the three of us. "One of the cats?" I asked.

That earned a long, loud laugh from me.

I woke in the morning, happier than I'd been in a long time, and saw she was standing at the window in nothing but my T-shirt. It was so mind-blowingly sexy that all coherent thought stopped for a moment.

This is a major cliche, one I was happy to find in this book. This needed to happen, because unlike other romantic cliches, this one is different. Their relationship is so complex and secretive that just makes my mind explode with dizzy, happy, super high butterflies.

The center will hold.

Elixir (by Hilary Duff) Review

Clea Raymond has felt the glare of the spotlight her entire life. The daughter of a renowned surgeon and a prominent Washington DC politician, she has grown to be a talented photojournalist who takes refuge in a career that allows her to travel to the most exotic parts of the world. But after Clea’s father disappears while on a humanitarian mission, Clea’s photos begin to feature eerie, shadowy images of a strange and beautiful man—a man she has never seen before.'

Review:

I read this book with the thought that there won't be a second or a third book. When it ended, it seemed as if I was expecting that. It wasn't quite a slap in the face, just an expectation I was willing to accept. Despite other books and other stories, this one was like none. It was the way it was written that I was drawn to. As I said on Goodreads, it flowed in the right direction at the right pace.

Clea's character seemed like one of those kinds, sad, confused, still holding on to the past, only it never occurred to her or to me that she was holding on to the far far off past, one she didn't know of. One only her soul, and her soul-mate Sage, knew of. That is the story I can and would love to continue reading, which is why I did. I loved it and I'm even more glad that there are two other books.

Rayna is just amazing, I know I use that word a lot these days, but a best friend like her? Who doesn't want one? It's a must have in anyone's lifetime. I found those eye conversations amusing, also because I know what it feels like, I use to have that with my past best friend. It is hard to find friends that are not jealous of you, and because of Rayna, I felt like Clea could go through the third world war with her by her side, and both would come out alive anyways, because friendship can only do so much to a person.

Sage... Well, he is described as a beautiful boy, I can only think of cute, not 'hot'. I'm not mentally attracted to him, like I am with the characters I've read about in the past books, but I was more than happy to see that Clea had chosen wisely, between the puppy-boy and the mysterious-one, my choice wouldn't have been any different.

Puppy-boy being Ben, I think being a guy who follows Clea everywhere and won't move on or just- I don't know, I think his character is a turn-off, especially since he can get so annoying and frustrating, even Clea sees that and I'm so glad for that. I'm glad he's not the one for her and I'm glad he's the one to ruin everything because it wasn't her fault, it was his, and it's always his and history repeating might sound like a cliche but  it fits in so rightly for this book.

Hoping for the best when I'll read the next one.
